Cagliari, Collection of Clemente Susini's Anatomical Waxes

The museum is located inside the Citadel of Museums in Cagliari, and its main content consists of a collection of very refined anatomical waxes that faithfully reproduce the human body down to the smallest detail.
The collection consists of 23 polychrome anatomical waxes attributed by experts to the full artistic maturity of Clemente Susini (1754-1814) and judged to be among the most beautiful existing in the world. With the extraordinary perfection of the anatomical detail, these waxes are associated with a figurative research usually absent in the previous works of the Florentine artist, and very evident in the composite realism with which he fixed the image of death on his faces.
The waxes were commissioned to Susini, between 1801 and 1805, by the viceroy Carlo Felice, through the professor of anatomy Francesco Antonio Boi.
The waxes were modeled in the famous weroplasty laboratory of the Museum of Antiquities and Natural History in Florence, where the Ox waited for the dissections of which the Cagliari specimens are very faithful reproductions.
The museum is home to publishing activities; some of the waxes in the collection have been exhibited in prestigious museums in major cities, such as the Villette in Paris, the Hayward Gallery in London, the National Science Museum in Tokyo, the Milan Triennale.
There are architectural barriers.

Why it is important to visit it
It is important because, in addition to being considered among the most beautiful collections of existing ceroplastic anatomy in the world, it shows Susini's level of artistic maturity.
