The museum exhibits a multitude of mineral species unique to Sardinia. A variety of international specimens are also represented.
Born from a donation by the collector Giuseppe Tanca to the Municipality of Bortigiadas, it includes more than 700 examples of minerals: Allanite silicates, widespread throughout the Gallura area; Babingtonite silicates, found in Gallura and La Maddalena; Bavenite silicates, rare, but discreetly present in Gallura; Berillo silicates, rare and found in Gallura and La Maddalena; Bertrandite silicates, rare, found only in the pegmatian silicates rocks from the island of Caprera; rare bismoclite halides found in the quarries of Cala Francese ( La Maddalena); rare calcium-ancilite carbonates (Ce), found in the Furru and Conca di Calangianus quarries; Ferroaxinite silicates, found in La Maddalena, Sant'Antonio di Gallura, Palau, Calangianus and Aggius; rare Hellandite silicates found in Cala Francese (La Maddalena); very rare Hingganite silicates (Yb), found in Cala Francese (La Maddalena), found in Cala Francese (La Maddalena), found in Cala Francese (Yb), found in Cala Francese (La Maddalena), found in Cala Francese (Yb), found in Cala Francese (Yb), found in Cala Francese (La Maddalena), found in Cala Francese (Yb), found in Cala Francese (Yb), found in Cala Francese (La Maddalena), found in Cala Francese (Yb), found in Cala Francese (Yb), found in Cala Francese (La Maddalena), found in Cala Franrare, found in Cala Francese (La Maddalena); Kamphaugite carbonates (Y), very rare, found in Cala Francese (La Maddalena) and in the Furru and Conca quarries of Calangianus; rare Powelite sulfates found on the islands of La Maddalena and Santo Stefano; Scheelite sulfates, found in Cala Francese (La Maddalena).
