The META Ethnographic Museum is a small precious treasure chest in the center of Abbasanta.
It is located inside an Aragonese-style manor house built between the end of 1500 and the beginning of 1600. The structure, recently restored by the City of Abbasanta, still preserves many original architectural decorative elements. On the street front, it is still possible to appreciate one of the few porches in Spanish Sardinia: it is documented that the loggia, supported by columns with a decorated base and capital, was used to welcome pilgrims, travelers and merchants for the feast of Saint Catherine during the Linen Fair that is no longer active.
The Museum was born from the will and the precious work carried out by the Abbasantese Ethnographic Archaeological Association with the intention of creating an exhibition of instruments used between 1500 and 1600.
Currently, the museum presents an overview of daily peasant and agro-pastoral life, divided into the various rooms of the structure, which goes from the nineteenth century to the early 1950s of the twentieth century.
