The museum is dedicated to archaeological discoveries in the municipality of Santadi and the area of Lower Sulcis. The finds, the result of systematic excavations and surface research, testify to the events of the territory from the ancient Neolithic to the Roman age.
Particularly significant in the context of prenuragic cultures are the geometric microliths and the ceramics with cardially embossed decoration by Cirixì in Santadi. Other materials refer to the villages of huts of S'Arriorgiu in Villaperuccio, Is Solinas in Masainas, Sant'Anna in Sant'Anna Arresi, and to the necropolis at Domus de Janas di Montessu in Villaperuccio, one of the largest and most important on the island.
The Nuragic period is richly documented by the votive deposit of the Pirosu Su Benatzu cave in Santadi where rites related to the cult of water were celebrated and where hundreds of vases, lamps and other objects were placed over the centuries. Descriptive panels present the plan of the cave and new blow-ups of the votive stipe, with the vases, the sacrificial daggers and the bronze tripod.
Of particular importance, due to the historical age, are the finds from the excavations of the Phoenician-Punic fortress of Pani Loriga.
