The garden of the Palazzina of the Sardinian Mining Association develops as a representative green space attached to the historic building, in an elevated position with respect to Via Roma. It was built in the early twentieth century, at the same time as the construction of the main building, designed following the competition launched in 1903 and completed in 1905. The area, of about 4,000 m², was granted by the City of Iglesias to the Sardinian Mining Association for the construction of the headquarters and related appurtenances, including the garden that formed an integral part of it. The configuration of the garden responded to a spatial concept consistent with the representative function of the building, home to one of the most influential mining institutions in Sardinia. The system, organized according to a main perspective axis that connects the entrance gate to the facade of the building, reflects the intent to enhance the monumental character of the complex, in line with the symbolism of the economic and technical power of the local mining industry. Over the course of the twentieth century, the garden has essentially maintained its original layout. The complex — building and garden — is today a significant testimony of the Iglesiente season of economic and cultural growth linked to mining activity at the beginning of the 20th century, representing a rare example of architecture and green space designed together to represent a professional category. The plant is set on a main access axis that underlines the formal and representative character of the entire complex. From the entrance gate there is a long avenue with rows of trees that leads to the main facade of the building. Along the side of the avenue there is the main garden, characterized by a freer composition, with different ornamental tree species and the presence of some specimens of historical value, such as a pumifera maclura and several cypress trees, which testify to the original plant. At the center of the area, a small area with succulents introduces a variation in plant textures and volumes compared to the rest of the garden. The portion immediately surrounding the building, on the other hand, takes on a more orderly and representative tone, with manicured lawns and shaped hedges that frame the building and enhance its monumental nature. On the sides of the main building there are flower beds of aromatic and medicinal plants. The structure of the spaces, from the entrance to the building, responds to a logic of progressive transition from landscape to ornamental greenery, in harmony with the original function of the headquarters of the Sardinian Mining Association as a place of representation and symbol of the prestige of the Iglesiente mining industry.

The trees, hedges and rows along the avenue help to outline the border with the city, integrating the garden into the urban environment and at the same time ensuring privacy and scenic continuity between the green space and the historic building.
