Chiaramonti, Church of San Matteo

Chiaramonti is a hill town located on a hill between the valleys of the Rio is Canneddu and the Rio Alideru. The majestic Doria castle dominates it from a hill. The parish church of San Matteo is located in the town.
In pure neoclassical style, the church was built in volcanic stone in 1888, with three tall naves with two columns and two pillars on each side. The façade has decorations, a base and a very dark perimeter frame that visibly contrasts with the almost shiny white of the plastered surfaces. The bell tower has a square base that tapers into the last octagonal section and is made with the same vulcanite as the façade; in the sacristy there is a canvas with Saint Lucy by Antimonio Paglietti from Sassari.
