The Capuchin convent, now incorporated by urban development in N/O with respect to the oldest settlement, can be accessed from Corso Garibaldi or Via Logudoro.
Its construction, commissioned by the bishop of Bosa Gavino Manca de Cedrelles and the city councilors, dates back to 1608. The foundation stone was laid on December 8 of that year, also starting work on the adjacent church of Santa Maria degli Angeli, as handed down by a document from the archives of the cathedral chapter.
The building - probably due to the same Bosan or Sassari workers called the following year to Cuglieri by the same bishop to build another cappuccino monastery - is on two levels, with a central cloister accessed through a vestibule next to the facade of the church and raised above the large square overlooking the convent complex, which can be reached from the current Via Garibaldi by climbing a long and wide staircase.
The simple porticoed cloister has in the center a tank for collecting rainwater. The Order's presence in Bosa lasted for more than 250 years, until the moment when, in 1867, the so-called “subversive laws” of the Savoy State led to the expropriation of the convent and the church, including the movable property contained therein. From 1877, a begging shelter was established there, later a hospice and a shelter for the mentally ill.
In recent times, the complex has undergone a heavy general restoration that has changed - even in the materials used - the original system, with the total loss of the annular system of the cells around the patio. However, the intervention allowed its partial use by the municipal institution.
