The museum is in the highest part of the town, in a modern building with a panoramic terrace from which you can admire the area's vineyards. Berchidda is renowned for its wine traditions and for the production of the precious “Vermentino di Gallura docg”.
Sardinia has a thousand-year tradition of viticulture. Various historical sources cite the particular vocation for the production of wine, which, due to its organoleptic characteristics, determined by the climate and the conformation of the territory, has distinguishable uniqueness.
In the Berchidda museum, divided into several rooms, the tools used in ancient times and territories for the processing of vineyards and grapes are exhibited: vats, pressing tanks, granite-based presses, etc. A wine shop is attached for the exhibition and tasting of the wines of Sardinian wineries and an educational vineyard.
It is the first Italian multimedia wine museum. In fact, the itinerary includes interactive aids that allow you to discover and deepen the culture and traditions of wine in the Mediterranean area from its origins to the present day and to be guided by sommeliers.
Why is it important to visit it
The guided tour and a short tasting itinerary, in which some types of wines are described, offer the opportunity to experience and refine first-hand the sensory, visual, olfactory and gustatory skills useful for learning about and recognizing fruits, flowers, plants and other natural products that can be identified in wine tasting.
