Berchidda, Saint Andrew's Dolmen

The two monuments are located in the valley at the foot of Mount Abialzos, a granite relief of the Monte Acuto region, in northern Sardinia.
The Sant'Andrea site has two dolmenic burials made with granite blocks. The first dolmen shows the burial compartment delimited, as usual in this type of monument, by slabs fixed to a knife in the ground. Three orthostats with carefully worked inner surface make up the two side walls and the back wall. The roof slab rests on these: subcircular, flattened and well smoothed on the lower surface - to ensure better support on the underlying structures - and left natural on the upper one.
The burial was enclosed by a peristalite, of which some slabs remain. The structure was functional to support the mound of tiny earth and stone that covered the tomb.
The second dolmen, with a rectangular plan, is delimited by three orthostats. The inner surfaces of the slabs are flattened and well smoothed. The roofing plate is missing, the fragments of which can be identified inside a nearby drywall.

History of excavations
The monuments have been known since the middle of the last century.
