Baressa, Museum House

The House-Museum is located in the heart of the historic center of Baressa. The building, dating back to the second half of the nineteenth century, has been completely renovated and furnished with furniture from the rural art povera.
Located between two paved courtyards, the house houses different environments: the shelter of the animals with feeders and tools for their care; the electric mill from the early twentieth century; s'aposentu (bedroom), furnished with ancient artifacts; on foxibi (hearth), a meeting place for the whole family where the visitor can admire the various tools once used by the housewives for domestic work; sa saba (living room), an environment reserved for welcoming guests, where there are ancient and valuable fabrics Hand yourself with the traditional Baressa technique characterized by the combination of bright colors; s'omu de su trobaxiu (frame house), where the hostess weaved; on magasineddu, the family pantry, and on sobariu (attic), storage for cereals.
Also interesting are the elements in the back courtyard of the house, called sa pratza de is puddas (courtyard of the chickens), in which there are various shelters for farmyard animals, plows and other tools for field work, as well as s'omu de sa moba (the house of the mill), where there are an old animal-powered oil mill, a hand press, sa moba de su trigu (the wheat mill) and various tools typical of the peasant world.

Why it's important to visit it
The Museum House represents, especially for the new generations, an element of knowledge and deepening of the Sardinian agro-pastoral world and culture, now largely gone.
