The museum, divided into two levels, is located in an ancient building in the historic center of Aggius.
The museum itinerary, within the MEOC, includes a visit to about fifteen environments dedicated to family life and ancient crafts, which display original objects and machinery that tell the history, culture and traditions of Aggius and the whole of Gallura.
Large spaces are reserved for shoemakers, blacksmiths and carpenters shops, while a corner of the room is dedicated to the processing of cork bark, and to the processing of granite, the typical local stone. We continue with the reconstruction of the winery, which offers an educational itinerary of the various phases of winemaking and the warehouse, an environment in which all the tools for the cultivation of the soil and the processing of cheese and the silos for storing food were kept.
The museum itinerary continues with a visit to the traditional kitchen of the Gallura stadium and to the bedroom, furnished with period furniture and with the objects of everyday life and furnishings on display.
The exhibition of traditional Aggesi costumes, male and female, is also very rich.
The fundamental nucleus of the museum is the one dedicated to feminine art par excellence: weaving. In the loom room, some local ladies give a practical demonstration of the various techniques of processing and weaving aggesi carpets.
The complex itinerary ends with the teche room where there is a corner dedicated to the famous Aggius choir. Exhibited here are both the photo depicting the choir, in 1928, when the composer Gavino Gabriel accompanied him for a performance at the Vittoriale, Gabriele D'Annunzio's residence on Lake Garda, and the letter that D'Annunzio wrote to a member of the choir, exalting the singing skills of the five singers, among which the voice of the “Gallura cockerel”, Salvatore Stangoni, stood out for its harmony and clarity.
