Dialogues at Bi.G: books that speak to the present “Artist's Books”

A book can be much more than an object to read. When artist and author, paper, words, matter, techniques, memory and project meet, the book can become sculpture, photographic work, sequence of engravings, installation. You can accept the writing or delete it. You can use the word as text or transform it into a sign. It can be small and fragile, or it can take on a monumental dimension.
So the book is no longer just the container of the work. It becomes the work itself.

The artist's book is not simply an illustrated book, but the result of an encounter between idea and matter, between tradition and experimentation, between the territory in which the work was born and the world in which it is subsequently presented.
Sardinia has a tradition of artistic research capable of confronting the international scene, as evidenced, for example, by the paths of artists such as Maria Lai, Gabriella Locci and Giovanna Secchi, guests -in different editions- of the Venice Biennale, a historic point of reference and the main indicator of new trends in contemporary world art.

Thursday, October 22, 2026 at 17:00, in the new appointment of Dialogs at Bi.G | Books that speak to the present, dedicated to artist's books, Gabriella Locci with Dario Piludu and the coordination of Carla Zizi, will tell how from Sardinia these experiences come to dialogue with international artistic contexts and will deepen the relationship between books and contemporary art, between technical experimentation and visual research of a format that can ograve; being, at the same time, support, message and work of art.

The Dialogues at Bi.G are free and free to enter, subject to availability.
